The Bechdel Test is a handy way to see if a movie features a realistic number and complete characters of women.
- Does it have at least two women?
- Do they talk to each other?
- Do they talk to each other about something other than a man?
A pass in this test doesn’t mean that the film is particularly feminist, or y’know, not offensive towards women, but it does give an insight into how women are featured and portrayed in movies.
